Diving into Florida’s Gulf Coast

Destin Snorkeling, Scuba Diving & More

Destin, Florida, enchants visitors with its emerald waters and pristine white sands, but its allure extends far beyond the shoreline. While the sunlit beaches and breathtaking Gulf views are undeniably captivating, the true essence of Destin lies in the hidden treasures beneath the surface, inviting explorers to discover a world of beauty and wonder that keeps them returning year after year.

From swimming alongside graceful sea turtles to exploring mysterious deep-sea shipwrecks, here are some of our favorite diving spots near our resort in Destin, Florida.

Discover the Jetties in Destin, Florida

For an unparalleled snorkeling adventure in Destin, Florida, follow the locals to the East Pass, nestled near Destin Harborwalk Village and the marina. This picturesque waterway, linking Choctawhatchee Bay with the Gulf of Mexico, is a cherished spot for fishing, snorkeling, and scuba diving.

Under the surface, the two jetties form artificial reefs that teem with marine life. Snorkelers can immerse themselves in a vibrant underwater world, encountering Spanish mackerel, amberjack, trout, black drum, sheepshead, redfish, and flounder, as well as octopuses and hermit crabs. The Destin Jetties are conveniently located just a short stroll from O’Steen Public Beach, approximately 30 minutes from Hilton Sandestin.

Swim with Turtles at Henderson State Park

Henderson State Park is a must-add to your itinerary if it hasn’t already secured a spot on your list of places to visit. This captivating destination features miles of pristine shoreline and breathtaking 30-foot sand dunes, a picturesque backdrop to your underwater adventure.

The park also serves as a vital nesting ground for loggerhead sea turtles, offering a rare chance to observe these majestic creatures in their natural habitat while snorkeling in crystal-clear waters. The blend of natural splendor and wildlife encounters makes Henderson State Park an essential visit for anyone seeking an unforgettable attraction in Destin, and it's only a 20-minute drive from our resort.

Snorkel for the First Time at Norriego Point

Situated at the tip of Holiday Isle, between Destin Harbor and the Gulf of Mexico, Norriego Point offers tranquil waters ideal for beginner snorkelers. This sheltered spot is home to a diverse range of marine life, including pufferfish, octopuses, sea turtles, and occasionally even dolphins. For those who prefer a well-organized adventure, consider booking a snorkeling excursion with Destin Snorkel.

Scuba Dive Near Destin Shipwrecks

For those eager to explore deeper waters, the Miss Loise shipwreck offers an exceptional scuba diving adventure. Situated approximately half a mile off the coast of Destin, Florida, this intriguing dive site requires only an open-water certification. The 85-foot-long tugboat that sank in 1997 has become a vibrant underwater habitat where divers frequently encounter impressive marine life such as grouper, mackerel, and even whale sharks. The Miss Loise is part of Wreck Alley, a renowned dive area featuring around 25 shipwrecks.

Whether you’re a first-time snorkeler or a scuba diving pro, our guestrooms and suites are the perfect place to relax between underwater adventures.
